The rough method: (weight ÷ weeks) × 52
A popular quick formula just takes average weekly gain so far and multiplies by 52: (15 ÷ 16) × 52 ≈ 49 lb. It's fine as a ballpark for small and medium dogs, but it's less accurate for large and giant breeds, which keep growing well past their first birthday and don't gain at a steady rate. The main calculator above uses growth-curve percentages instead, which is why the two answers can differ.
